Chemical peels use medical-grade solutions to remove the top layers of your skin, revealing the healthy, radiant skin underneath. Think of it like hitting a refresh button on your skin, leading to smoother, healthier, and more even-toned skin.
So, would you like to enhance your skin with chemical peels? Here is what you need to know first.
Chemical peels are suitable for most skin types, including darker skin tones. However, a thorough evaluation is essential. During your consultation, your dermatologist will assess your skin to determine if a peel is the right option for you. Treatment may be postponed if you have an active skin infection, open wounds, or have recently undergone certain cosmetic procedures.
Chemical peels come in different strengths: light, medium, and deep. Light peels contain mild acids such as glycolic that address surface imperfections, including dullness and dryness. Medium and deep peels contain stronger acids, such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA), which help address deeper lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and pigmentation. Our dermatologist will help you choose the best peel based on your skin type, goals, and lifestyle.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that all chemical peels require significant downtime. In reality, the recovery period depends on the intensity of the peel, and some peels have nearly non-existent downtime.
Here is a close look:
No matter the type of peel, sun protection is essential. You should also resist any temptation to pick the skin as it peels. We’ll give you tailored aftercare tips to ensure you heal faster and safely.
While you may notice an immediate glow after your first treatment, the best results often come after a few days or weeks. As your skin continues to heal and renew itself, improvements in tone, clarity, and texture become more noticeable. Improvements continue for several months as collagen production continues.
There is a common misconception that chemical peels are not suitable for dry skin. The truth? Skin peels remove dead layers to restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Peels also help hydrating products, such as moisturizers and serums, penetrate the skin more effectively.
Chemical peels offer a powerful yet customizable way to rejuvenate your skin. They penetrate your skin to achieve a clearer, smoother complexion with minimal to moderate downtime.
