At AVIVA Dermatology, Drs. Simone Stalling, MD, PhD, FAAD, and Rosannah Velasquez, MD, offer cosmetic and medical dermatology services for patients in Houston, Texas. With the help of our team, many patients have the opportunity to improve their skin’s health and appearance. This can be achieved with the use of our chemical peel facial treatments. Let’s look at how a chemical peel can help you achieve beautiful, youthful, and glowing skin by looking at several frequently asked questions.
A chemical peel is like a spa day for your skin! This skin treatment uses a specially formulated solution to remove dead skin cells and reveal smoother, fresher skin underneath. It can be used for overall rejuvenation or to treat specific skin concerns.
Not exactly, but it might shed a little, depending on the type of peel you get. You might see light flaking, or in the case of stronger peels, some more noticeable peeling. This is normal and part of exfoliating dead skin cells and bringing forth fresher ones!
Not really. You might feel a tingling or warm sensation during the application and maybe a bit of tightness afterwards. It is an exfoliation treatment designed to slough away dead skin cells, so it needs to work magic to get you the desired results!
Chemical peels are generally safe for most skin types, but it is always best to consult a skincare professional at our office. Not every provider knows how to treat ALL skin tones. At AVIVA Dermatology, we have expertise in chemical peels for every skin type. We ensure the peel is uniquely tailored to your skin’s needs and concerns.
Chemical peels are a great way to rejuvenate the skin and address specific issues. These facial treatments can help with acne, fine lines, uneven skin tone, dark spots, and more. Whether you want to brighten your complexion or tackle pesky blemishes, a chemical peel might do the trick.
You will start to see noticeable results 5-7 days after your skin has completed all peeling. Deeper peels have dramatic results that continue to improve your skin weeks after the peel. Patience is key, and your skin will transform overtime.
Yes! Post-peel care is super important. Keep your skin hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, and definitely apply SPF every day. Being gentle with your skin helps ensure the best results!
